Ethernet Serial Client for 802.11a/b/g WLAN with access point option
The ESCG is designed to replace the cabled serial or ethernet connections to peripheral devices and connect them to a wireless LAN (WLAN). The WLAN connection does not require any changes in hardware or software. Security is guaranteed with encryption algorithms like WEP (64/128bit).
Authentication is implemented conforming to 802.11i (WPA) as well as WPA2. Because the ESC can be operated on a switch or a hub, several LAN members can be connected to the WLAN simultaneously. Up to 2 (default 1) serial devices can be connected to the ESCG via the RS232-interface to send and receive data over the WLAN. Due to its rugged aluminum housing the ESC
The supply voltage range is 9-36 VDC with an isolated input. A range of 18-75 VDC (for 48V battery supplies) is available as an option.
The power consumption of the ESCG is very low (< 3W) which makes it perfect for battery powered vehicles (e.g. AGVs). An optional relay contact is available for switching functions over WLAN (e.g.to wake up sleeping AGVs). An isolated push-button input is available as an option as well. The antenna connectors are R-SMA. Configuration and monitoring of the ESCG is performed via web browser or separate application. Both ways allow FW upgrades
What’s in the box?
The ESCG comes with a CD-ROM included. the configuration-SW. This small piece of SW will find unconfigured ESCGs in the network and allows to set, store, download and upload all parameters. Alternatively you can access the configuration via web browser or telnet and you do not need any additional SW.
The unit is legal in the UK, with CE-approval and has been sold successfully throughout Europe since 2006. The unit is shipped with two antennas and a power cable with Hirschmann M8-connector which allow to connect it to any power supply between 9-36VDC and user guide showing how simple it is to set up!
