Can the NARS-2 be used as an alternative (to the CRS-PB) in a Profibus-DP application? --> Yes, it is possible and convenient if you need a screw terminal for connecting the open wires. One thing to notice with Siemens PLC's is that A and B lines are crossed. If you use Profibus cable which can be supplied by SATEL,, it is practically just plug and play with Siemens PLCs. Are there any end-user oriented guides for configuring the Satel 3AS in a Profibus network? --> Profibus2005.pdf contains a PowerPoint presentation that was shown at the distributor Technical Training in Nauvo 2005. This presentation contains the timing information, which should be applicable to start with. If the user needs to do some optimization in their system, it should be considered then locally. Can a master to multiple slaves link be used, or is only point to point supported? --> It is possible to build also point-to-multipoint systems. In some installations, there is also repeater station(s) in use. However, we have noticed that a repeater station with the PLC attached to it, has caused some difficulties in getting the stations communicate properly.
